Four German-Jewish literati-turned-anti-Nazi activists are forced to flee to London following the rise of Adolf Hitler's regime in Germany.

During a horrific 4th of July terrorist attack, a group of 5 desperate employees find themselves trapped in the back room of a restaurant. But as they try to stay alive, they discover their greatest threat is locked in the room with them.

In this tale, a serial killer seeks the assistance of a lobbyist to change laws that would make it simpler for him to avoid punishment for his crimes. Meanwhile, a retired police officer refuses to give up on solving the murders. The killer endeavors to stop the retired officer from pursuing the case, now that he is no longer an active member of the force. As a result of his crimes, the serial killer becomes a celebrated figure in the public eye.

Set against the backdrop of a postapocalyptic Earth whose Eastern Hemisphere was destroyed by a massive solar flare, leaving what life remains mutated from radiation and fallout.
