Set in a small town in California's San Joaquin Valley in 1942, fourteen-year-old Homer Macauley, a telegraph bike messenger, is left to care for his widowed mother, his older sister and his four-year-old brother, after his older brother goes to fight in World War II. The effects of the war are revealed as Homer delivers messages of love, friendship, pain and death, including one message that alters his own life forever.

Roger (Taran Killam), a straight-laced politician, has big plans to propose to his dream girl (Gillian Jacobs) at her family’s lake house. But everything goes awry when he meets his potential brother-in-law Todd (Bobby Moynihan): a full-time camp counselor with a heart of gold and a wild sense of fun, pining to be Roger’s best friend, and ultimately catapulting him into a series of unfortunate events. As Roger tries to take a stand amidst outrageous fishing excursions, propulsive water jetpacks and American history-themed musicals, he realizes that being a part of a new family may be more difficult than he’d thought.

When a local resident was charged, and then convicted, of the murders, the community grappled with what it meant to be at the epicenter of this tragedy.

When Brady finds out his girlfriend has been cheating on him, his best friend Tommy decides that the best way for him to get over it is with a raging drug induced birthday celebration in Mexico. Things quickly take a dark turn when the two girls they meet at a bar are connected to the Mexican drug cartel and the girls hold them for ransom. Brady and Tommy must fight for their lives and a way to escape, while being drugged and tortured in a desolate hotel in a foreign country, which will prove to be the most twisted birthday celebration of all time.

Fifteen-year-old Brandon longs for a pair of the freshest sneakers that money can buy; assuming that merely having them on his feet will help him escape the reality of being poor, neglected by the opposite sex and picked on by everyone -- even his best friends. Working hard to get them, he soon finds that the titular shoes have instead made him a target after they are promptly snatched by local hood, Flaco. May 1940. To escape the imminent German invasion, the inhabitants of a small village in northern France flee their homes, like so many millions of their compatriots. Max, a German boy, travels with them. His father, Hans, opposed the Nazi regime and was imprisoned in Arras for having lied about his nationality. Hans is eventually set free and sets off to find his son, accompanied by a Scottish soldier who is trying to get back home.
