Marvin the Martian comes to Earth to destroy Christmas but is prevented from doing so when he's trapped in a gift box.

Set in the 1890s, the story follows a brother and sister who run away from their mean aunt and cross paths with a traveling magician named Mortimer Wintergreen. The man possesses an actual magical hat with a mind of its own and the three find themselves on a series of wild adventures.

After his parents go missing, a young boy is sent to live with an eccentric uncle who turns out to be a crazy wizard. Before the kid knows it, he's been shrunk and banished to be a villager in the wrathmonk's toy train set.
